IMPERIAL EDITION

RESOLUTION PASSED BY THE CAMPAIGN MASTER FOR THE LIVING LEGEND OF THE FIVE RINGS: “A THOUSAND YEARS OF PEACE” CAMPAIGN.

Resolution No. 1

WHEREAS, the Article titled as “RISURYO ISSATSU: GENERAL CHARACTER GUIDELINES (Imperial Edition),” under subheading “PARTICIPATING IN THE TOPAZ CHAMPIONSHIP” states that all player characters participating in such introductory scenario must comply with stipulations for a Rank 0 Campaign mechanic;

WHEREAS, the above identified Article took reference upon materials for Miscellaneous Alternate Paths, pertaining more specifically on Champion Paths: The Topaz Champion entry, found in the L5R 4th Edition Core Rulebook pages 256-257. An assumption that a participating character for such scenario must be of Rank 0 was derived.

WHEREAS, materials found in L5R 4th Edition – Emerald Empire page 220, by extrapolation, would state otherwise: “…students become proficient in their school’s first Technique three to six months prior to their gempukku ceremony. At this point, they are considered Rank 1 characters from a mechanical standpoint, although not yet from a social standpoint.”

WHEREAS, this campaign master is thoroughly convinced of the evident and transcendental need to clarify the confusion that the two publications brings.

NOW, THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the foregoing premises on the motion of the Campaign Master, in his prerogative, be it RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, that Characters need not be of Rank 0 to participate in the introductory scenario: The Topaz Championship.

*FURTHER RESOLVED THAT participating characters who shall be as contenders for the title of Topaz Champion shall be of Rank 1 during gameplay, and further should they achieve said title, shall gain the Technique it would normally replace. Clarification: The Technique gained is in addition to, and shall not replace the according Technique achieved during the according Insight Rank.
